Two awards for the Rotterdam Transplantation Laboratory at the Dutch Transplant Days 2019

On March 13 and 14, the Dutch Transplant Days (het Bootcongres) took place in Amsterdam at the "Koninklijk Instituut voor de Tropen".

Each year several awards are given for different achievements.

The Novartis Transplantation Award 2019 for best scored publication in category basic science was for the group of Martin Hoogduijn with first authors of this publication being Samantha de Witte and Franka Luk. The title of the publication: Immunomodulation By Therapeutic Mesenchymal Stromal Cells (MSC) Is Triggered Through Phagocytosis of MSC By Monocytic Cells, published in Stem Cells 2018, Apr; 36(4):602-615.

The NTV Distinguished Research Award 2019 was for  Nicolle Litjens. She has been working  in close collaboration with  Michiel Betjes at the Nephrology and Transplantation lab since 2004 and has evolved as an important researcher in the field of measuring antigen-specific T cells, in particular alloreactivity. Their work has led to many publications in high impact journals in the field of Nephrology and Transplantation.
